Well-known global brands
- Signode (USA): one of the oldest and largest names in strapping, with strap, tools and machines of every type.
- Fromm (Switzerland): known for battery and pneumatic strapping tools.
- Orgapack and Strapex (Switzerland): long-established names in strapping tools and machines.
- Mosca and Cyklop (Germany): known for automatic strapping machines and packaging systems.
These brands are high quality, but in Egypt the tools and their spare parts are expensive, and parts can take time to arrive.
China and Taiwan
Many Chinese factories now make battery tools, pneumatic tools and carton machines with similar function at much lower prices; quality varies from factory to factory. Taiwan is known for manual steel strapping tools, many marked "Made in Taiwan".
How to choose
- Where are spare parts? A machine whose parts aren't in Egypt can stand idle for weeks.
- Does it take the strap sold locally? Check width, thickness and material.
- How big is your volume? A three-shift plant is not a store strapping 50 cartons.
- Try before you buy. Ask to see the tool working on strap like yours.
